Your artist tells you after your tattoo.
Follow this if your tattoo is covered with a protective film (a clear bandage).
Follow this if no film was applied, for example on a large piece that film cannot cover.
Two stages: the first day, and day 5 when the film comes off.
Keep the tattoo area away from water and soap. If you notice black ink or fluid collecting under the film, gently absorb any excess from the edges with a clean paper towel. Keep the inside of the film dry and sealed.
No film was applied, so follow these instructions carefully throughout the healing process.
What to avoid, and what to do.
Do not scratch, peel or pick at scabs or flaking skin.
Avoid swimming pools, seawater, bathtubs, hot tubs and any activity that soaks your tattoo.
Keep your fresh tattoo protected from rain. Rainwater may contain contaminants.
Keep the tattoo out of direct sunlight. Avoid excessive friction and tight clothing.
Choose clean, loose-fitting, breathable clothing to reduce irritation.
Clean the tattoo gently and keep it protected from dirt and possible contamination.
For both guides.
Redness that keeps spreading.
Pain or swelling that gets worse.
Pus develops.
An unpleasant odor appears.
You develop a fever.
Proper aftercare helps your tattoo heal well, keep its quality and reduce the risk of complications. This guide is general information, not medical advice.
If your tattoo is covered with a protective film, follow Guide A. If no film was applied, for example on a large piece that film cannot cover, follow Guide B. Your artist will tell you which one applies, and you can message us if you are not sure.
Keep it on for 5 days. Then remove it while recording a short video, and follow the steps in Guide A.
If your skin is sensitive to the adhesive and you get itching or a red rash around the edges, remove the film immediately and message us.
With a protective film, clean the tattoo after removing it using a wet wipe or a cotton pad dampened with water, and do not use soap. Without a film, wash gently with clean running water and, if appropriate, a mild fragrance-free soap.
No. Avoid swimming pools, the sea, bathtubs and hot tubs while your tattoo heals. Ask us if you are not sure.
With a protective film, use a thin layer of Vitamin A&D ointment (or the vitamin cream provided by the studio) twice a day. Without a film, use a suitable tattoo aftercare moisturizer in a very thin layer. Never use alcohol or hydrogen peroxide.
Seek medical advice if redness spreads, pain or swelling increases, pus develops, an unpleasant odor appears, or you develop a fever.
